Meetings have been held with local staff and health council members to discuss options for the future clinical requirements for Mudgee and the Mid-Western Regional area.
Dubbo MP and Deputy Premier Troy Grant met with Western NSW Local Health District chief executive, Scott McLachlan earlier this week to discuss the project.
Mr Grant said that health user groups are working well and are feeding vital information into the planning process, and this information will assist in developing the overall clinical services plan for the future.
“The value of local user groups can’t be understated. Their input into the planning process is critical in ensuring that a clinical services plan is developed that will meet the communities current and future health needs,” Mr Grant said.
“Future directions for services will include an increased range of services provided in the community and ‘outpatient’ type services,” Mr McLachlan said.
“The redevelopment is an opportunity to plan for better coordinated care that links community, hospital, and general practitioner services and the provision of services, where clinically safe, locally.”
Mr Grant and the Baird Government pledged $60 million to the project 36-days out from the March state election last year.
A community consultation forum took place in August last year.
