The new Herbert Street building (next to Cudgegong House) will provide rooms for all three doctors, medical students, pathology, podiatry, psychology, a diabetic educator and visiting cardiologist.

Dr Hussain Alseneid who has been at the centre for eight years said the services simply outgrew the building.  

“Because we are expanding and have more doctors we’re not able to accommodate all the services we provide so we’ve been looking for a larger premises and this is going to fit us nicely,” Dr Alseneid said. 

“All the patients have known about it and are very excited.”

“The nurses sometimes were not able to work because they had to give rooms up to other services like podiatry or cardiology.

“So now in this building everyone will get their own room. The two nurses who would share a room now get their own room each.”

After 24 years with the practice, practice manager and nurse Robyn Evans said the extra room will benefit patients and staff. 

“It will make a difference having two rooms because we can have the patient flow running better and it gives them a bit more privacy instead of sitting two in the one room if we had to for some reason,” she said.

“It’s lovely to think we’ve got this extra room, it’s beautiful,” she said. 

The move has created a health precinct in Gulgong with Country Physiotherapy next door and hopes that another health service will take rooms in an adjoining building.  

“There is the potential for a health related service such as imaging services because at the moment there are none in Gulgong,” Dr Alseneid said.  

Gulgong Medical Centre will operate out of 102 Herbert Street, Gulgong from Monday, April 4.
