Stuart Michael Farr, aged 32, of Mayne Street, Gulgong, was charged with driving a vehicle with an illicit drug present in blood.
At about 7.38am on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, Farr was stopped by police in Church Street, Mudgee, for random breath and drug tests.
The roadside breath test was negative for alcohol, but the oral fluid test returned a positive result for cannabis and methamphetamine.
Farr was taken to the drug bus where a second sample was positive for cannabis and methamphetamine, which was confirmed when the remainder of the sample was sent to the forensic analytical laboratory in Lidcombe.
Farr told police “I smoked cannabis two days ago”.
His solicitor, Sally Callander, told the court that her client was going through a “stressful time” with family matters so he smoked the cannabis which was laced with methamphetamine, adding he was embarrassed by the incident.
Magistrate Terry Lucas commented: “He’s got the quinella, both of them cannabis and methamphetamine”.
He added: “It’s the first time I’ve heard of cannabis being laced with meth. I don’t know why a drug dealer would do that”.
In closing he told the defendant: “You are someone of standing in the community. You’ve just blown that”.
