The silver lining to the cloudy conditions forecast is that the match is the end of a long period of away games – the local side played just three of the opening nine competition rounds at home.
From the following weekend the Dragons will have three straight games at Glen Willow, in total five of the remaining eight games in the regular season are at home.
Despite the less than favourable draw, all of the club's sides are well placed after the first half of the season.
The two-week break has been useful recovery time for some of the injured senior Dragons.
Meanwhile, the 17s team have been going from strength to strength as they show continued improvement on a weekly basis.
After a steady start to the year they have now convincingly won two in a row against Gilgandra (28-10) and Coonamble (32-4).
The Gilgandra win was pleasing for the club as they turned the tables from the Round 1 meeting. The Dragons have now moved into second position on the ladder.
Last week's game was a rugged ‘old school’ affair, but the Dragons kept their heads to maintain their team intact and ready to play another day.
2016 will be a milestone year for rugby league in Mudgee with the 40th and 30th anniversaries of the 1976 and 1986 premierships.
A reunion dinner is being organised for Saturday, August 21, for the teams, any other old boys interested in attending and supporters past and present.
Followed by VIP treatment for players from the two premiership teams at the Mudgee Dragons and Bathurst Panthers game on the Sunday at Glen Willow.
