Elle Brydon was one kilometre from home at 12.40am on Thursday after finishing a busy State of Origin shift at a local pub when she approached a bend.
“I saw lights coming and as I was coming up to the turn the car was slowly drifting onto my side of the road,” she said.
“I veered as far left as I could go expecting them to see me and correct it.
“I’ve moved over but there are guard rails there and they just haven’t stopped, haven’t braked and hit straight into me on the side.”
The impact of the crash shattered the driver and rear passenger windows, ripping the rear passenger door case and tyre guard off. The damage is too severe to repair and the car is a write-off.
The scary thing is if there was someone in the back seat they would have been seriously injured.

“I was in shock to start with but then I turned around to see if they’d slowed down or stopped, expecting that they would. They slowed down and just took off and didn’t stop,” Elle said.
“So I turned around to see if I could get a licence plate or a make of the car but they were too far gone and my car obviously wasn’t working.”
She said the car that hit her was a light coloured newer model 4WD with a bull bar.
“The scary thing is, if there was someone in the back seat they would have been seriously injured.
“I’m more angry than anything that they didn’t stop. I don’t care about the car but just the purpose of checking that someone had not been seriously injured.”
A passing truck driver was the first vehicle to pull over about 15 minutes after the crash.
“I’m really lucky,” Elle said. The incident has been reported to police. Anyone who saw the accident or has information is urged to contact Mudgee Police.
