For the big screen, Angry Birds been turned into a frantic combination of animated mayhem and pop culture gags, a tale of outcasts turned heroes and fading legends re-energised.
The Angry Birds Movie follows the story of Red (voiced by Jason Sudeikis), a bird with anger issues living on Bird Island.
He leads a fight against an invasion of green pigs and also learns about ways of dealing with rage responsibly.
Things turn bad for Red when there's a nasty incident following a botched birthday cake delivery, and he is sent to court-ordered anger management classes.
There he meets daffy counsellor Matilda (Maya Rudolph), plus three other surly creatures in need of therapy; hulking and silent Terence (Sean Penn), fast-talking Chuck (Josh Gad) and Bomb (Danny McBride), who has a tendency to explode, literally, when he's roused.
And so the narrative heads towards the set-up of the original game, a birds-versus-pigs face-off.
Also screening at the Mudgee Town Hall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (July 1-3) is Mother’s Day, starring Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston.
Three generations come together in intersecting stories in this follow up to Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve.
