O’Meley, making a one-off appearance for the Bathurst club, started for Pat’s in both the opening and second halves.
He helped the Saints make inroads through the middle of the park, also finding himself a try assist, to eventually earn a 30-14 win.
While not everyone appreciated the wet and slow conditions at Carrington Park, O’Meley couldn’t have been happier.
“Lucky there were a few scrums to keep it slow. It got better for me as it went on. I tried to go hard at the line early … and probably gassed myself within the first minute,” he said.
“I’m intelligent enough to know when I can cheat so I did plenty of walking and plenty of hiding around here and there. When it counted though I rolled my sleeves up and did a bit of work for the boys.”
O’Meley said the experience at Bathurst both within and outside of the match was enjoyable.
“Looks like the wind’s gone and the best of the weather is after the game but it’s been great here,” he said.
“Out at Chifley Dam, where I’ve been staying, it reminds me a lot of England which is pretty good.”
