Fifteen years of dreadlock growth will be gone with one swift snip of the clippers all in the name of breast cancer awareness during next month’s Spring Pink Races.

David Walker is donating his locks to be cut in aid of the McGrath Foundation fundraiser on September 4.  

“As we lead up to October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Australia, the Spring Pink Carnival here at Mudgee Race Course is going to be something very special,” organiser Hugh Bateman said.

“David approached me with this idea and I just think it’s an amazing gesture by him. He is well and truly known around the district for his long hair and his dreadlocks and we know that it’s going to raise a lot of money.” 

Mr Walker lost his grandfather and two life members of the Mudgee Race Club to cancer.

“I thought I’d join the community and get amongst the battle against cancer,” he said.

A VIP area will be sectioned off for the special event at the September race meet with auctions, raffles, pink cocktails and fashions on the field.

Tickets for the Spring Pink Races at Mudgee Racecourse are limited and can be purchased at Cherry Red or The Property Shop.
