This year’s theme ‘Healthy Minds, Healthy Environments’, aims to make the link between the health of people and the health of the environment.
It also aims to increase the capacity and resilience of young people in engaging with the environment and their community.
The keynote speakers are 2016 Young Australian’s of the Year, Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett; the founders of Orange Sky Laundry.
The pair realised at a young age the importance of committing to dreams and participating in their communities, and managed to integrate these into their key project, Orange Sky Laundry. Launched in 2014 and now operating in nine cities across Australia, Orange Sky Laundry offers a free mobile clothes washing and drying service for the homeless.
In addition to the keynote speakers the day will also include the highlights such as art workshops leading to the contribution of a sculpture to Rosby Sculptures in the Garden.
As well as ‘laughing yoga’ sessions including one big combined session at the end of the day with all 600 students.
Along with drumming workshops; sensory activities; juggling; planting and environment workshops.
Green Day is at Mudgee Showground, between 10am and 2pm on Thursday, September 1.
