Condoblin is coming off a hard-fought, 24-14 loss to the Boomers in last week’s major semi-final, while the Rhinos progressed by knocking off Cargo in the minor.
Condobolin won the qualifying final – the last time these teams met – a fortnight ago, 30-20.
The sides were evenly matched in that entertaining game, where nine tries were scored. Sunday’s preliminary final promises a different game though, based on last week.
Condobolin is coming off a brutal game while Manildra came through their win in much better condition, plus they’ve had as extra day to prepare.
The Rams will have the home ground advantage and a big vocal crowd behind them.
The Rhinos know they’ll have to turn up and they also know how hard the Rams are to beat, especially at home.
In ways, picking a winner would be like the lottery however Condobolin will start as favourites but it’s clear Manildra has the side to cause a boilover. With both sides boasting big forward packs and enterprising backlines, It may well come down to which team shows up on the day. First grade kicks off at 2pm.
The Rams are represented in all three grades, they play Manildra in the youth league (11.30am) and Eugowra in the league tag (12.50pm).
Respective minor premiers Trundle, Binalong and Grenfell will be keenly watching on on Sunday, to check out their 2016 grand final opponents.
