Mudgee Travel and Cruise took a narrow 1-nil win over Mudgee Bearing Centre in the grand final of the Mudgee District Hockey senior competition, played on Saturday, September 10, 2016.

The first half was a close match up with both teams having opportunities to score.
The teams play different styles of hockey.
Mudgee Travel and Cruise rely on a short passing game, using all players and patiently moving the ball towards the goal circle. Mudgee Bearing Centre rely on big hitting defensive free hits, with fast strikers dangerous to the opposition when they have the ball.
In the second half Mudgee Travel and Cruise were the first to score, when Nico Ioane scored a penalty stroke goal.
Soon after Mudgee Bearing Centre were awarded a penalty stroke.
Scott Peters took the stroke but the MTC goalkeeper, Natalie Richards, was too good and stopped it easily.
Both teams played hard and with determination, and the final score was 1-nil to Mudgee Travel and Cruise.
