David Payne, the Community Mentor with the LINK Program said this sector is quite popular with the LINK Program students, particularly with the girls.
It has been really good to actually experience what it is like to work with children.

“The students see childcare as a worthwhile and rewarding career path and Imaginations has over many years been providing work experience opportunities to our students,” he said.
The students are exposed to a wide range of activities involved in childcare. Students are always supported by qualified staff whilst at the centre to ensure they are learning the correct and up-to-date methods in childcare.
Student Olivia Bell is spending one day a week with Imagination and gaining a practical insight into what it would be like to pursue a career in this industry.
“Child care is an area that I have been considering as a career when I leave school, “Olivia said. “It has been really good to actually experience what it is like to work with children. I have really enjoyed it and believe it is the area I want to work in.”
The Director of Imaginations Early Learning Centre, Sharyn Pena, is happy to provide these opportunities to students who have an interest is pursuing childcare as a career.
The Mudgee High School LINK Program is supported by Glencore Coal and TAFE Western.
