This year's beneficiaries are the Mudgee District Hospital Operating Theatre and Ambulance NSW.
It began with the roadside donation stations and school captain Tom Christofis noted that the motorists once again dug deep and showed their generosity.
“I heard that someone donated $100 out of the blue, just threw it in, so it’s good to see that people care about Rainbow Day,” he said.
A decade and a half after the first Rainbow Day the event is now well ingrained at the school and each year group looks forward to the opportunity to run theirs.
“You have this image of how it’s going to go, but I’m not disappointed with anything that’s happened today, it’s been a fun day,” Tom said.
Student Amelia Coombes added that the whole year group plays their part.
“It really surprises you how much everyone pulls together to achieve a successful day,” she said.
“But overall it’s been really fun, met our expectations and more.”
A provisional total will be announced at the Year 12 presentation assembly today, the students’ last day at school before their HSC exams begin after the holidays.
Their fundraising will continue at A Day On The Green and the Property Shop’s Tradies Night next month.
