Guest speaker at Rylstone Kandos Rotary on Tuesday, October 4 is Lt. Col. David Deasey, Chairman of the NSW Committee of the National Boer War Memorial Association.

Mr Deasey, who was born in Corowa, NSW enlisted in the University of NSW Regiment in 1968 and was commissioned in 1971.
In civilian life he taught English and History in NSW schools from 1973 until 2009, retiring as Deputy Principal of Picnic Point High School.
As a writer and historian he is passionate about honouring Boer War veterans with a National Memorial.
“The Boer War was the first conflict in which Australians forces were involved as a nation.
Around 23,000 Australian men and women served and nearly 1000 Australians paid the ultimate price for their service.
Mr Deasey will be a guest of Rotary which meets at the Rylstone Club at 7.30pm.
