Member for Calare Andrew Gee said the funding will assist people in the Bathurst, Blayney, Cabonne, Mid-Western, Orange and Western Plains councils to recover the floods.
“The Central West has been hit extremely hard by the recent flooding and I am encouraging our primary producers and townspeople to apply for this funding as soon as possible,” Mr Gee said. “Our thoughts are of course at this time with those across the Central West who continue to battle rising flood waters, especially our farmers who have lost crops and livestock.”
Assistance under the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) includes:
- Help for eligible people whose homes or belongings have been damaged;
- Support for affected local councils to assist with the costs of cleaning up and restoring damaged essential public assets;
- Concessional interest rate loans for small businesses, primary producers and not-for-profit organisations;
- Freight subsidies for primary producers; and
- Grants to not-for-profit organisations.
