Clifford started the women’s race with intent and was second out of the water behind junior swim star Sian Potter - who was racing her first long course event.
The 14-year-old recorded 5:10mins for the 300m swim, which was the second fastest time overall in the long course.
The hotly contested bike leg saw Louise Mowlem and Nicolette Karskens chasing the leader before Karskens suffered a flat tyre and was forced from the field after just 10km of the 16km course.
Mowlem held pace with Clifford along Rockywaterhole Road but wasn’t able to keep up with the in-form triathlete.
Clifford held her form off the bike into the final leg in Lawson Park and ran a 14:49min 3km run to win the event in 55:56min.
Mowlem second on 56:10mins and an strong performance from Giselle Denley put her third on 56:55min.
The next club race will be held on Sunday, November 6 ahead of the first inter-club competition the following weekend in Orange.
