Mr Freebairn has been providing agricultural advice to Australian farmers, enterprises and government departments for almost 40 years. He is particularly passionate about the development of more productive and sustainable pastures in NSW and his input to this topic was recognised when Mr Freebairn was awarded an OAM for his contribution to Agriculture.
The field day is being held as part of the Digging Deeper into Watershed Soils project.
“The project aims to provide landholders with the opportunity to increase their knowledge of aspects that influence their soil, enhancing understanding of how important plant growth is for soil health.” said Agness Knapik, Watershed Landcare Coordinator.
“We are hoping that participants will be able to adapt management decisions to their own situation.” she continued.
Discussion topics will include ground cover, various pasture types, the logic for each, establishment, management, soil quality and other relevant aspects. Native pastures will be included as well as the role of tropical, annual legumes, Lucerne and winter forage crops.
Participants will have plenty of opportunity for discussion and to ask questions during the paddock walk and Mr. Freebairn's presentation.
It couldn't be a better start to the season so come along and find out how to get the most out of your pastures.
Attendance is free for Watershed Landcare members and $10 for non-members.
