Tomorrow’s A Day On The Green concert at Robert Oatley Vineyards features a bumper line-up for “Classic Hits All Day” and Mark Gable – of Choir Boys fame – can’t wait to hit the local stage.
“I love them, they’re awesome, you get up and do three or four songs, hang around backstage with your mates, then head out into the audience where everybody loves you, and it’s so much fun doing it,” he said.
“You look at the list, when you’re around long enough you get to know everybody and these days there’s not any rivalry anymore.
“It’s kind of like a happy family.”
He said that his set will be “a bunch of Choir Boys songs and I have no idea what the fourth song will be, whatever comes into my head I’ll do”.
The show will close with multiple artists teaming up for a tribute to the late Stevie Wright by performing all three parts of ‘Evie’.
“I used to make cups of tea for Stevie back in the 70s when we were at Alberts,” Gable laughed.
“But he was great and in hindsight you look back at the videos you go ‘wow’, because when they’re around and when you’re in the middle of it you don’t appreciate it as much but when they’re gone it’s a totally different story.”
Gates open at 3pm, tickets $99 at the box office on the day.
