Sisters Sophie and Celeste Clabburn are well known for their dynamic live shows,
“It’s been a few years since we’ve done a big national tour so we cannot wait to get out on the road again,” Celeste said.
“We know what it’s like living in a small country town — it’s a great life but always very exciting when there’s a gig to go to!
“We’re looking forward to bringing our new show to a heap of small towns across Australia.”
Their Club Mudgee concert on Sunday, November 6, will feature favorites as well as songs from Here We Go.
The sisters wanted to make their eighth album sound like “classic Sunny Cowgirls”, telling tales of rural Australia.
They write about what they know, whether it’s about country bachelorettes, rural Aussie festival stages or days spent at the local dam.
Of the 12 original songs on the album, six are written by Celeste and six by Sophie, the sisters keeping in touch between their homes in Gunnedah (Sophie) and Western Australia (Celeste).
The Sunny Cowgirls kicked off their tour on Sophie’s birthday at the Deni Ute Muster on October 1, the day after Here We Go was released.
Fans have been quick to pick up on the new songs as the duo head down the east coast, with gigs everywhere from Mission Beach to Muswellbrook.
“We did a show four days after the release and people already knew the words,” Celeste said.
“Summer [from their 2010 album of the same name] is a crowd pleaser but Cowboy seems to go down well.
“We’ve got a full band and the songs are fresh and we are enjoying it.”
Sophie and Celeste Clabburn were just in their teens when their debut album was released in 2005, peaking at number three on the ARIA Country Charts.
They’ve performed at every major country music festival in Australia; collaborated with country music icons like Adam Brand and Sara Storer and released numerous records and DVDs.
Sunny Cowgirls perform at Club Mudgee on Sunday, November 6 from 5.30pm to 10.30pm. Tickets are available from Club Mudgee or online at www.clubmudgee.com.au/events.php
