With Parliament done and dusted for another year, it was great to do some travelling around the electorate. On Monday I was joined by Minister for Health Jillian Skinner to reveal the next stages of Dubbo Base Hospital’s transformation. On Friday I had the honour of opening the brand new TAFE Western Learning Resource Hub in Mudgee as well visiting Lue Public School where I met the teachers, students and Lue community members.
Landmark occasion for Mudgee TAFE
I had the privilege of officially opening the state-of-the-art Learning Resources Hub at the TAFE Western campus in Mudgee, which will be a one-stop shop for students in the region to ask questions and gain access to these new services.
It gave me great pleasure to open this new resource hub, where counselling, disability support, course and career information, library services and administration information will now be available.
It is also an important development for Vocational Education and Training (VET) in the Mudgee Region, increasing the presence of TAFE and providing dedicated spaces for new interactive learning opportunities for students.

Next Stages of Hospital Transformation
Last week, the Health Minister, Jillian Skinner and I unveiled the schematic design and fly-through for the next stages of Dubbo Hospital’s major redevelopment.
We visited the hospital to unveil the schematic plans and artist’s impressions of the $150 million Stages 3 and 4 redevelopment, also announcing that an integrated cancer centre will be built with the Stages 3 and 4.
Stage 3 – a new inpatient unit – will be built above the Clinical Services Building. Construction is expected to begin early next year.
Stage 4 will replace the existing emergency department and existing medical imaging unit. It will include a new emergency department and short-stay unit, new medical imaging unit, new critical care floor (comprising coronary care/stroke and intensive care units and a cardiac catheterisation laboratory), new ambulatory care unit, new renal unit, new main entrance, drop off zone and extra car parking.
The Stages 3 and 4 redevelopment follows the $91.3 million Stages 1 and 2 construction of the new Clinical Services Building, officially opened in January and includes six new operating theatres, a maternity inpatient ward, a birthing suite and a day-only ward for surgical services.
