The Rotary Club of Rylstone Kandos catered for the 50 plus competitors at the Australian Freshwater Masters Fishing Competition held at Windamere Dam recently.

On Thursday evening before the big event a briefing for competitors was given, followed by dinner. Gangster Lures were raising funds for the McGrath Foundation and competitor and trophy winner from last year, Jo Starling, spoke about her experience of surviving cancer. The funds raised will mainly be distributed to support the breast-care nurse at Wagga Wagga.
Fishing started the following morning and ended at 7 pm. Apparently the fish were not very co-operative and the long faces were only cheered by a hearty meal provided by the Rotary Club. While the weather held for the meal, it may well have drenched the fishers, judging from the storm at Rylstone later in the evening.
The competitors headed to Glenbawn Dam in the Hunter Valley a couple of days later for the next leg of the competition, which will finish at Mulwala in the Riverina in February.
