Nathan Wilkins and Sheridan Simmons – who as a team took out the the Mixed Doubles Championship for 2016 earlier in the year – showed their respective solo strength taking out the men’s and women’s titles.
Wilkins – favourite for the crown - overcame Cameron Anderson in the final to claim a trophy he said afterwards he’d never collected before.
Simmons had a hard fought final against women's runner-up Carolyn Smith en route to her title, the match starting before the men’s decider and finishing after they were done as well.
Both championships were going to see new names added for 2016 with both 2015 champs Anna MacDonald and Anthony Leung out of action this year.
Another highlight was the men’s semi-final between Wilkins and Andrew Channon, the latter pushing the eventual champion to a final score of 6-4.
