Sunscreen will be every racegoers best accessory at today’s Mudgee Cup with the temperature expected to soar. 

The Bureau of Meteorology has the hottest part of the day reaching 35 degrees, so the hot tip is to slip, slop, slap and drink plenty of water.

Thousands of locals and visitors are expected track-side for the popular annual event, that attracts the who’s who of the Mid-Western region.

Mudgee Cup is the perfect opportunity for racegoers to take style tips from the Spring Racing Carnival with the colour red a big winner.

Organisers will be hoping for a smooth run after last year’s shocking multiple horse fall. 

Five jockeys were thrown from their mounts during the early stages of the main race. Only seven of the 13 runners completed the 1600m event.

Amazingly, most of the riders escaped any major injuries but one of the horses had to be euthanised.
