Gulgong Bowling Club’s Junior Bowlers meet every Wednesday afternoon from 4-5pm to learn the game of bowls.
And this year the club will host a competition after a successful first time in 2016.
Coaches Paul and Mary Woolford are refreshed after the Christmas break and keen to get the kids back out on the bowling green.
“We look forward to another exciting year of bowls with the kids,” Mary said.
“The youth are the future of bowls.
“We have a great little team of bowlers and cater for all ages and abilities.
“Our youngest bowler is four years old and has great promise just like his older brothers.
“We welcome anyone who would like to give bowling a go to come along one Wednesday and try it out.
“Cost is free and we have bowls available for our juniors to use for training.
“We welcome new faces and would love to see you.
“You don’t have to live in Gulgong to come along, we have two members who travel regularly from Coolah to join use for training.
“All you need is a flat pair of shoes and comfortable clothes to get started.”
Gulgong Junior Bowlers had a great opportunity back in October when they attended Molong to compete in their inaugural Junior Bowls Competition.
The pairs competition consisted of 14 teams with four teams from Gulgong and competitors included many talented bowlers including some of the state’s best junior bowlers.
One of the Gulgong teams featured brothers Lachlan and Jordan Thompson.
The brothers were the overall winners on the day winning all three of their games defeating the team that included the 2016 Bowl’s Australia Under 18 Male Bowler of the Year, Jono Davis.
Another Gulgong team, Patrick Butlin and Kyle Whittington were awarded the encouragement award for their efforts throughout the day.
