The club has announced that Robbie Dowton will be the new coach for the upcoming season.
On field they’ll be led by Brad James, who has been named the Castlereagh League Player of the Year for the last two seasons on the trot.
Back in October he was chosen in the Western Rams first grade team that took on Federation of Italian Rugby League Australia (FIRLA) team in Bathurst.
Last year the Terriers’ hopes of the club’s first back-to-back premierships were dashed on grand final day when they went down 28-22 to the Gilgandra Panthers.
In 2015 the two sides did battle at Billy Dunn Oval with the Terriers taking out the crown.
Fast forward 12 months and they met again but this time in the Panthers’ den, where the home side – which stormed to the 2016 premiership with three-straight wins over the previously undefeated Coonamble – won with a last-minute try to break the 22-all deadlock.
The Gulgong side will get its chance for revenge in Round 6 of the 2017 season when it returns to McGrane Oval in Gilgandra on May 13.
The return bout will be in Round 15 at Billy Dunn Oval on July 22.
The 2017 Bendigo Bank Castlereagh League season kicks off on April 1, with Terriers set to enjoy a home game for the opening round when they play host to the Baradine Magpies.
Their always anticipated derbies against Dunedoo and Coolah will be played at Billy Dunn Oval on May 20 and June 3 respectively, then at the Swans’ and Roos’ backyards on July 29 and August 12.
Before the season there will be knockout tournaments for League Tag on March 18 at Dunedoo and Rugby League on March 25 at Baradine.
