Released to the public, tickets for both the general access hill and ticketed seating in the grandstand are on offer for those that want to see the City vs Country origin’s denouement.
Country Rugby League has combined with Mudgee council and the town as a whole to make sure that the last is also the best, and the whole region is ready for the historic clash.
“I think that it’s important you get your tickets and your accommodation sorted pretty quickly,” Des Kennedy, mayor of Mudgee, said.
“We've often had people who are planning on getting tickets and beds late, and then they get disappointed when they miss out on really great games of footy.”
“Just remember when you’re here and you have your tickets, but need a bed for the night, Mudgee isn’t the only alternative. Gulgong, Rylstone and Kandos are all just short drives away, and they have plenty of beds too.”
There are plenty of people involved with NRL and Country Rugby League that are excited for the final act – including former Country representative Andrew Ryan.
“We are really excited for the last game, especially when we heard Mudgee got announced,” Ryan said.
"It is a bit bittersweet that it’s not going to continue but it was a big success here in 2012 and the community got right behind so I think it can be a big success.”
Ryan is eager to give the City v Country fixture a proper farewell after so many years of thrilling games, and thinks engagement is key.
“It’s going to be so important to have the team out here in the lead-up, and be here for the whole week,” he said.
“They’ll be mixing with the community doing coaching clinics and give the locals opportunities to interact.”
The support for the bush cannot go away after the final clash at Glen Willow however, and the former Bulldogs captain was quick to agree.
“Country league is huge, coming from Dubbo I just want to push it out here, and make sure they have pathways,” Ryan said.
“You still want these kids to see NRL players, and the facilities out here mean we can get regular fixtures.
“I want to see NRL teams out here regularly to give the region the support that it needs.”
General admission tickets for the final ever City v Country match are currently on sale today on the NRL.com website.
