It was later in the day that Jake Pracey-Holmes would finish his road to recovery in the biggest race at Dubbo Turf Club, but in the opening bout he combined with regular partner Brett Thompson to lock first place on Fairy Fragments.

The Gulgong trainer’s horse hasn’t had much experience in the big races, but in a race dominated by Thompson’s horses the young filly came good from long odds.
It was the headline race later in the day that got chins wagging however.
Stoneyrise and Pracey-Holmes combined to take out the $150,000 Western Racing Association Country Championships Qualifier (1400m).
Local Mudgee trainer Cameron Crockett also stretched his great run of form with a 2nd place finish for Ori on Fire – the gelding hasn’t finished outside a podium finish in 2017 thus far.
Both Crockett and Gulgong based Ganya Williams couldn’t find more luck however – middle of the pack finishes came in for the rest, including William’s Shadow Affair, who took first in Mudgee just a fortnight ago.
