The Grand Final for the 2016/17 season was played between two top sides who were very well matched.
In the end it was Moolarben Coal Crushers taking the win over Jason Muller Plumbing, 8 to 5.
The result saw the champs knocking off the minor premiers Jason Muller Plumbing who finished the regular season on top of the ladder.
Central West Oztag’s Jay Waite said that Mudgee's first ever Oztag competition was a great success with players wanting a winter competition as well.
The season by popular demand will start on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, with a change of location to Victoria Park.
Oztag as a sport has been booming in recent years.
It is a non-tackling game, on a 70m x 50m field, with eight players in each team on the field at any one time.
Players wear shorts with a velcro patch on each side, the tag a strip of cloth is attached with the defenders aiming to tag the ball carrier and stopping them from scoring by removing the tag from the shorts.
