She trialed in Orange last month – and despite missing the follow up trial due to unavailability – got the phone call to confirm her spot in the squad.
“I must have stood out I suppose,” she laughed.
Thurlow’s previous representative experience includes playing for Central West two years ago as a junior player when she was selected in back-to-back years.
And back in 2015 she picked up international experience when she captained the Mudgee High School side that took on the visiting Canadian team from Paris District High School.
The NSWCRU Country Championships will be held on the weekend beginning March 24 in Forster.
Where Central West will take on Country Rugby’s best from regions including; Illawarra, Newcastle, New England, and Far-North Coast – to name a few.
Thurlow’s selection comes on the back of being a part of the Mudgee Wombats Women’s teams hugely successful debut season in the Blowes Cup, which saw the side play in the season decider.
“This time I’ll be representing the Wombats, because that’s the team I’m registered under,” she said
“The girls bonded really well throughout the season and to make it to the grand final in the first year was exciting.”
And added that the Wombats ladies would like to go one better this season and use the knowledge gained in 2016 to good effect.
“Our goal is to win the grand final,” she said.
“A couple of the original girls have left but we’ve got some newbies who have a keen interest.
“Now we’ve got that experience of the first year we know how the other teams play and hopefully that will get us up.”
The Wombats went down to the Cowra Eagles in the grand final 22-7, against a side who’d been the powerhouse of the competition throughout the season.
