The ancient festive sport, now nearly 2,500 years old, takes full advantage of the Windamere Dam and Dunns Swamp that grace the Mudgee area, and the crew of the ‘MudDragon’ is spreading their sport far and wide.
Taking on regattas in Bathurst, Orange and most recently in Darling Harbour for the Chinese New Year Dragon Boat Race Festival, the squad is still making sure that the Dragon boating tradition remains.
All this is made possible through eager rowers and the support of the community, including sponsorship from Moolarben, Family First and Lawson Park Hotel to get a new boat and trailer.
