A thunder and lightning show around the Mid Western region overnight has caused flood damage.
The official weather station at the Mudgee Airport recorded 72 mil, but others around the region have reported up to 100 mil at various locations.
The Mudgee SES had eight jobs with one flood rescue overnight.
Acting local SES controller, Tamara Robinson is reminding drivers to not drive into flooded water.
“Fortunately, the people involved in a flood rescue on Sydney Road, were able to get themselves out before the SES arrived.
“We don’t usually get flood water out on Sydney road, so it was very unusual.
“A lot of the time, flood water can be deceiving, you just don’t know what’s underneath. It can become very dangerous.
The other eight jobs for flash flooding, were mainly due to the drainage system not being able to cope.
“It’s really hard to control that kind of flash flooding, but we did a few sand bagging jobs last night,” she said.
Mid Western Regional Council has advised the Mudgee Pool and Lawson Park are closed due to flooding and a power outage.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast more showers today (Wednesday).
Very high (90%) chance of showers. A thunderstorm likely, possibly severe. Winds west to northwesterly 15 to 25 km/h becoming light in the late afternoon. Daytime maximum temperatures 25 to 30.
