Almost 200 golfers took part in the day, including celebrity guests in the vein of Billy Birmingham, Malcolm Johnston, Jimmy Cassidy, Phil Kearns, Michael Hagan and Ben Robinson.
Event constants Peter Sterling and Ken Sutcliffe also made the journey to support what has been more than half a decade of the golf charity drive.
This year the classic broke a huge milestone for the event – more than $100,000 has been raised through the past six years, and then donated to local charities and support groups.
This year’s money has been allocated to the Mudgee hospital ‘Education for Staff’ fund, along with the regular donation to the support of Pioneer House.
Peter Mayson, local golf guru and tournament founder, was excited that the event has grown to the size that it has.
“We reached a very special milestone this year, and it’s so pleasing to see the event go well year after year,” he said.
“We are always looking to innovate the classic, but at the moment it’s doing really well and there is constant interest from golfers and those that want to support a good cause.”
“I’m excited to see what the next year brings – you finally wrap up the last one and the next one is just waiting around the corner.”
The Celebrity Classic staff and organisers also acknowledged the financial assistance in running the charity day from Moolarben Coal, Leibherr, The Property Shop, Mid-state Smash Repairs and Ross Granata Motors.
