Conducted by Golf NSW, the Mudgee Golf Club was awarded the rights to host the event and had 63 of the best senior women golfers from across the state attend.
Australia’s number one seed in women’s senior golfing, Jacqui Morgan (representing Monash Golf Club), defeated Kim Burke from Shelley Beach in the final of the championship.
It took Morgan six extra holes to defeat Burke on the 24th hole in a tense final matchplay, but in the end she was triumphant.
Mudgee was represented in the tournament by Trish Jones, Carol Cockerill-Wright, Joan Campbell and Rossie Thompson.
Trish Jones was 9th overall in scratch and qualified for the 55- 64yrs Age Division. Trish defeated Wendy Hergenhan from Bega, 5/3, in the semi-final and went on to win the final against Rhonda Magner from Concord 4/2.
Rossie Thompson kept the flag flying for Mudgee with a win in the Division Two Nett matchplay defeating Isabelle Goss (Monash) 4/2 and then Joanne Blackburn from Royal Canberra in the final 6/4.
Joan Campbell won the overall 36 hole Handicap trophy with rounds of 72 and 79.
GNSW representatives were on hand to present Mudgee Golf Club Operations manager Debbie Bates with a medal of appreciation.
