Principal Caron McDonald said that Lue Public is planning to develop an Indigenous bush tucker garden at their school and Red Hill invited the students along to generate some ideas and learn all about native plants and their uses.
“Students participated in a yarning circle plotting their journey,” she said.
“They learned about the medicinal properties of some plants and how others were used in cooking, to flavour food or the seeds ground down to make flour.
“After lunch we helped to create a new garden bed using wet newspaper and mulch - so many inspiring ideas.
“My thanks to Nic Hall (teacher at Red Hill) and Red Hill principal, Michele McFarlane, for making the day possible.
“We can't wait to put all these new ideas into practice at our school.”
