After an intense 40-minute match, Oriental Men’s and Col Matthew’s Motors remained locked up at 7-all.
Extra-time was needed, and after two minutes and down to a 4-on-4 drop-off, Oriental and player of the match Tim Condon managed to run around the outside of his opponent and dive in the corner for his third touchdown but most importantly, to seal the 8-7 victory.
The win was the first for the players of Oriental Men’s who last tasted success in 2009 under the Ross Granata Motors banner.
For Col Matthew’s Motors, they came so close to making it a hat-trick of men’s division one titles.
In the men’s division two grand final, Eastend were 10-4 winners over 5 O’clock Somewhere with Eastend’s Ivan Giammarco named player of the match.
Eastend led 5-3 at half-time before injuries took their toll on 5 O’clock Somewhere and could not keep up with the young Eastend brigade.
The men’s division three decider was a tight affair with Willie’s Western Warriors coming back from being down at half-time to win 3-2 against Komatsu.
Player of the final was Willie’s Western Warriors’ Michael McFarlane.
