Playing in the district pairs in Gulgong, Brooks and Marskell needed seven shots to win going into the final match, the game seemed to be out of reach, with John Mobbs and Mark Gorrie all but declared the victors.
It wasn’t to be for them however, as Brooks and Marskell picked up seven of a possible eight shots on the last end to win by a single shot and book their passage to the state finals.
In local competitions, the semi-finals and final of the club triples tournament will be held April 2, where Jae and Wayne Marskell, as well as Tom Rich, will be defending their 2016 title.
The Easter Pairs tournament is also fast approaching – set for April 14-15 – and there are a few spots still available in the line-up.
If you are interested in nominating for the tourney to compete for the prize money, nominations close in the coming week.
