Castlereagh League will be sending both a league tag and an under 23 rugby league team plus combining with players from the Barwon/Darling competition in the under 18s rugby league.
The Terriers have four players in the 23s, with Brad James coaching, and three in the 18s.
Gulgong’s Bec Nairne is the League Tag side’s manager, and 15-year-old Chloe Pennell has been selected for the side.
Both the league tag and the under 23s have been training for a number of weeks under coaches Jessica Skinner and James respectively and are looking forward to a bold showing.
With the representative teams playing on Saturday round three games of the Christie and Hood Castlereagh League competition have been pushed back to Sunday with the match of the round being played at Gulgong with the Terriers hosting Coonamble.
Both these teams are coming off a loss with the Bears going down at home to Gilgandra in a brutal affair whilst the Terriers were shock losers to the Trangie Magpies at Trangie.
The Terriers will be out to erase the memory of that loss in front of their home crowd, but the Grizzlies will not be an easy take down and a high quality game is expected.
Perhaps a deciding factor could be how each team’s representative players back up with Gulgong perhaps being at a disadvantage contributing more senior players to the squad than the visitors’ one.
It will be a top of the table league tag clash at Dunedoo between the Swannettes and the Baradine Magpies that will set the stage for what should be an enthralling rugby league encounter between the two clubs.
While at Coolah the Trangie Magpies will be out to make it back to back wins when the take on the Kangaroos, with the home side out to register their first win for season 2017.
In a most unusual occurrence Gilgandra are the only unbeaten side after just two rounds, and that won’t change for at least two weeks with the Panthers having the bye this weekend before hosting Warren in league tag only in round 4.
