Archers, and their families, travelled to Piambong Range to participate in the National ABA Bare bow championships in the town.

The National 3D Archery Championships were also held.

Both tournaments are conducted annually by the National Body which confers titles to the winners.

The terrain of the Piambong range reportedly was designed to be a challenge for some of the more skilled archers, and as a result the competition was an interesting, and close, event.

Though there were many NSW competitors, all states had participants in the event as they saw the opportunity to prove their worth against equal peers in the tourney.

President Michael White of the Australian Bowhunters Association was also present and welcomed all participants and tournament hopefuls to the range.

The weather held true, just like many archers’ aims, and the tournament ran smoothly.

The ABA will next hold the 2017 IFAA National Championships.

This event will be hosted in Ipswich from Wednesday, June 21 until Sunday, June 25, with registration, bowchecks and practice commencing on Tuesday, June 20.
