Koalas are currently listed as a threatened species under both State and Federal legislation.

While koalas are known to occur and reside across parts of the Mid-Western Region, many of these areas are fragmented leaving the species at further risk from predators and road accidents.

Residents can learn more about conserving the species from an ecologist at a special koala information field day at Redbank Dam on Sunday, April 30.

The first twenty-five people to register for the event will be eligible to receive twenty free koala feed trees to be planted on their residences or property.

The Koala Conservation Session will be held at Redbank Dam Picnic Area, Old Reservoir Road Mudgee on Sunday, April 30, starting from 10am.
