This week’s New Era Cup game between the Kandos Waratahs and the Lithgow Bears at Waratah Park was an emotion-fuelled game, both teams eager to win the first match, as well as winning the first game for the Nathan Boundy Memorial Shield. The shield was founded by the Lithgow Bears club as a memorial to Nathan Boundy. Nathan started playing for the Kandos Waratahs in 2006 and played for the Lithgow Bears in his final season. The trophy will stay between the two clubs and be awarded to the club who wins the first match of the season.
