Smiles, Hughes and Luke entered pleas of not guilty to the charges and the matter has been adjourned until Wednesday, June 21, 2017.

Protesters Bev Smiles, Bruce Hughes and Stephanie Luke intend to plead not guilty to the charges arising from a protest outside Wilpinjong mine in April.

The trio will face Mudgee Court on Wednesday, charged under the controversial new section of the NSW Crimes Act. They were charged with interfering with a mine.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of seven years in jail.

A group of protesters gathered outside the Mudgee court this morning. The group went into the courtroom but were forced to leave all placards outside and to remove Save Wollar signage from the front of the building.
