Firefighters are encouraging people to visit Mudgee, Gulgong or Kandos Fire Stations for the Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) annual Open Day on Saturday, 20 May.

The stations will be open from 10am to 2pm and families are invited to meet local firefighters and learn more about fire prevention.
A range of free activities will be on offer, including firefighting, rescue and Hazmat demonstrations, station tours and fire safety presentations.
This year, FRNSW is pushing the “Keep Looking When Cooking” message. Acting Station Commander Craig Muscat said, “almost half of all house fires start in the kitchen, usually when people fail to keep an eye on the stove top”.
“The Open Day is also a great opportunity to talk to experts about replacing smoke alarms. We’re encouraging residents to replace their outdated alarms with the latest 10-year, lithium-powered smoke alarms.”
Fire and Rescue NSW Station 312 Gulgong will also open their doors to allow the public to see their current historical building, before they move in June.
