Local artist and domestic violence advocate, Leanne Wicks, is calling for all locals to break the taboo subject of domestic violence and the effects on communities. According to White Ribbon Australia, one in four children are exposed to domestic violence, and on average, one woman is killed per week by her partner or former partner. Leanne is undoubtable passionate about this subject, and now seeks your help.

Between now and October, Leanne is asking locals to knit, crochet, paint or create small white squares that can be sown together to cover a symbolic white ribbon, in collaboration with her exhibition “SsshOut!” due October 7 at Gallery 47, Rylstone. All squares can be left at ‘The Saffron Kitchen’, 47 Louee St, Rylstone. Artists from the Rylstone district have created controversial works about domestic violence in support of White Ribbon. Opening night Saturday, October 7 from 4pm-6pm. White Ribbon Ambassador and silent auction of artworks.
