The NSS is an annual campaign held by the Australian Library and Information Association to promote the value of reading and literacy and to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books.
The event is now in its 17th year. Each year an Australian children’s book is selected. This year the shared story was The Cow Tripped Over the Moon, written by Tony Wilson and illustrated by Laura Wood.
A humorous ‘back story’ to the nursery rhyme Hey Diddle Diddle, the children’s book The Cow Tripped Over the Moon promotes resilience, encourages perseverance and it drew lots of laughs from its Rylstone Kandos Preschool audience.
