The Mudgee Dragons’ premiership defence continues on Sunday when they host the Cowra Magpies at Glen Willow.
When the sides clashed in Round 1 the local side came away with a narrow 14 to 10 victory.
Since then the Dragons have racked up a further three victories for an even split of four wins and four losses to put them fourth on the ladder.
Fortunate hasn’t favoured Mudgee at times in 2017, with the loss of key players through injury and suspension, Corin Smith hasn’t played a game since the Mudgee nines and Jack Afamasaga has played one.
But if it’s any consolation, the Dragons’ run to the 2016 trophy didn’t really begin until the second half of the season when a wave of momentum carried them all the way to the finals.
Furthermore, they’ll enjoy more home games for the remainder of the year – they only took to Glen Willow three times in the first half of the season, they’re at home five times from Sunday.
The visitors enter the match from fifth on the ladder, also with an even split of four wins and four losses, but miss out with a worse For-and-Against (+31 for the Dragons plays -9 for the Maggies).
Sunday gets underway at 10am, with the ladies League Tag.
