Woolworths Mudgee will be implementing the ‘convenience’ service from September, 2017, with the plan to make shopping in Mudgee simpler for the customer.
The Click & Collect service has been employed in the Central West for some time, even in towns like Wellington that are half Mudgee’s size, that left some residents asking – what about us?
According to a poll in the article Would you use online shopping for Woolworths and Coles?, 84.95% of the 93 respondents said that they would use Click & Collect, if it was available.
On the Mudgee Guardian facebook, Damien Stott commented that he was surprised at the lack of the convenient service.
“Mudgee needs to offer online ordering and home delivery. It amazes me that neither Coles or Woolies (sic) have not offered this already for the area,” he said.
“I was amazed Wellington offers the service when Mudgee doesn't. Crazy,” Sara Matthews also commented.
Just 8.6% of respondents didn’t want to see the service brought to town, and the final 6.45% were curious to see how the service operated before committing to its use.
Some took to the comments to share their opinion on the unnecessary nature of the Click & Collect service.
“I'd prefer to collect from the shelves then have home delivery,” Diana Anderson said.
Regardless of the opinions of the residents however, Mudgee will soon have the service.
“The Woolworths Click & Collect service will be available to customers in Mudgee and surrounding areas from September 2017, allowing customers to order their groceries online and pick groceries up from the Mudgee store at a time that suits them,” a Woolworths spokesperson told the Mudgee Guardian.
“At Woolworths, we're focused on delivering both choice and convenience for our customers.”
Coles has not yet commented on when the Click & Collect service would be coming to the Mudgee supermarket.
