Created by the Mudgee Pinball Club, the weekly tourney seeks to give the youth of Mudgee – and die-hard pinballers – a chance to come in, flick a few flippers and score a few extra balls.
“Mr Dyke’s been kind enough to welcome us and let us in, and we’ve been able to get some machines and run with pinball for the general public and go from there,” the founder of the club Larry Parkinson said.
The tournament by Mudgee Pinball Club is planned to be a week-long ‘high-score’ tourney.
“We are going to run the odd competition and it’s going to be about plugging the high score for the week and we’ll put it up on the board and collect some trophies.”
Larry spoke about when his love for pinball first developed with a smile.
“I got my first pinball in 1977, and I had it for a couple of years and I got rid of it then,” he said.
“About eight years ago I decided to get back into it and started collecting some, and it evolved from there.
“It’s more like a hobby out of control now.”
The Mudgee Pinball Club’s tournaments will be held from Monday to Saturday, with weekday access hours 9am-5pm, and the weekend opening times 10am-2pm.
At the closing of the store on Saturday afternoon, the high-score for the week will be crowned the victor of the weekly tourney.
