Mid-Western Regional Council and Planet Ark are inviting residents to plant native trees and shrubs along the Cudgegong River as part of National Tree Day this Sunday.

Council’s General Manager Brad Cam said planting trees will assist with revegetation following recent weed removal along the river.
“Council has been undertaking removal of a large infestation of woody weeds in this area over the last few weeks,” Mr Cam said.
“This tree planting event will assist to revegetate the area with native species providing valuable habitat for native animals.”
The first 20 people to help plant trees along the Cudgegong River (at the Glen Willow walking track loop) this Sunday, July 30 from 10am will be eligible to receive a free tree.
National Tree Day is Australia’s largest tree-planting and nature care event. Each year over 200,000 people take part in National Tree Day events at 3,000 sites organised by councils, schools, businesses and communities across the country.
Residents are reminded to wear a hat, sunscreen and enclosed shoes, and gloves if they have some. A barbecue lunch will be provided by the Lions Club.
