Of the 400,000 Australians who seek treatment for alcohol use, 70% won't get help because existing treatment services are just too expensive. And when people do eventually seek out support, it isn’t available due to waitlists, costs or location.

For the last seven years, Hello Sunday Morning (HSM) has activated a movement towards a better drinking culture - where drinking is an individual choice, not a cultural expectation.
Launch the Daybreak app, which provides individualised treatment, reaching hundreds of thousands of people who might otherwise be unable to access help.
In an Australian and global first, members have access to a trained health coach via the app, who is available to answer questions or provide feedback via instant messaging (not phone calls). This means for those members who have families, they can get the instant support they need in the comfort of their own home.
Thanks to funding from the Western NSW Primary Health Network, local residents can secure access to the Daybreak app for free. This service is usually $59.00. To register, simply download Daybreak from the Apple App Store or Google Play, record your postcode when prompted and follow the instructions.
Hello Sunday Morning CEO, Chris Raine, said rather than taking a one size fits all approach to alcohol behaviour change, the program is tailored to the individual, and most importantly at the time the individual needs support the most.
“The Daybreak program is built on the principles of cognitive behaviour therapy. It’s not about abstinence but about personal choice. The overwhelming amount of research confirms that personal, individual intervention results in better outcomes in persuasion and behavioural change,” Mr Raine said.
“Our Health Coaches, who are mental health professionals with backgrounds in health, mental health, counselling and psychology, help members set and reach goals for satisfying and healthy lives,” Mr Raine said.
“Most importantly, they provide readily accessible support at that moment in time when someone is about to reach for that next drink. Our Health Coaches will be there to help our members understand why they are seeking alcohol and work with them to identify other techniques they can use to deal with what is usually the underlying trigger,” he explained.
Daybreak has no waitlists; ensuring people get help immediately when their motivation is high. Accordingly, individuals who are on the wait-list for treatment can access Daybreak during this time, preparing them for formal treatment, and preventing them from being hospitalised.
