Massive inflatable clowns, their faces constantly smiling out across the streets, stand as constant reminders that the Great Moscow Circus is coming to town.
The ‘Clown Invasion’ has been a promotional tool for the travelling circus for some time now, most recently in Orange when they spread a handful of the smiling giants around the colour city.
Now the campaign has come to Mudgee, stretching from the start of Sydney Road across town.
Creepy? Potentially, especially if you suffer from a phobia known as ‘colourophobia’, or just simply the fear of clowns.
The inflatable promotional pieces are lined from multiple entrances in the town, with a handful along Sydney Road and Horatio Road, as well as Douro Street, Market Street and the Castlereagh Highway.
While many of the clowns are attached to commercial buildings and properties, a number of them are also situated in the front yard of residential properties.
Show spokeswoman Leanne Linden said residents were given show passes for hosting one of the thirty-five clowns the circus has in its stock-rooms.
It has been three years since the circus last visited Mudgee and it is back with new owners, new acts and an extreme theme to wow the crowds.
“It’s very family friendly, and no matter what age every act will leave you on the edge of your seat for a different reason,” Ms Linden said.
